Overview

We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our Accounting and Business Advisory Solutions group in our Boston or Woburn office. To qualify for this position, you should be able to:

Essential Duties

Accounting

  • Reconcile bank accounts; prepare journal entries for entry to appropriate systems
  • Analyze and summarize client information to prepare financial reports
  • Interact with client staff to gain information, documents and data necessary to complete assigned tasks
  • Educate and train clients in proper accounting techniques
  • Communicate client issues to supervisor or partner on the job
  • Communicate with clients and clients' contacts including payroll companies, banks and vendors
  • Assist and orient other firm staff members as needed in job preparation
  • Develop individualized systems & relationships with clients based upon clients' needs
  • Handle other special projects/tasks as required

Tax

  • Plan, review and prepare tax returns for closely held businesses and their owners, including c-corporations, s-corporations and partnerships.
  • Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client’s businesses.
  • Work closely with Tax Partners to satisfy the needs with planning compliance.
  • Understand firm risk on tax services performed and communicate accordingly to management
  • Provide supervision, training and guidance to tax associates.
  • Experience analyzing and resolving tax notices with federal and state tax authorities.
  • Stay current on new tax legislation.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years accounting & tax experience
  • QuickBooks experience preferred
  • Proficient with corporate, partnership and individual taxation required.
  • Ability to adjust schedule based on peak workload times in the department
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, tax preparation software (for ex.: CCH Access, CCH Engagement and BNA Tax Planner)
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
  • Working to or aspires to obtain CPA or EA
  • Detail oriented and improvement focused
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexibility to change direction frequently between tasks and between different clients; ability to prioritize
  • Solid organizational skills & the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to recognize and protect confidential and sensitive information and exercise strict discretion when disseminating or sharing information
  • Positive energy and professionalism on a daily basis
